The Nintendo Switch is continuing to enjoy impressive sales, but now, having entered the seventh year of its lifecycle, it’s plain to see that it won’t be awfully long before Nintendo is ready to introduce its next-gen console. Leaks and speculation have consistently pegged the console for a launch sometime in 2024, and another new report published by Chinese investment website MoneyDJ has claimed that the Switch successor will be launching in Q1 2024.

As per the report, metal cases manufacturer Hongzhun is expecting a boost to its revenues in the second half of this year, which is partly down to increased business coming from Nintendo, allegedly due to the Nintendo Switch successor set to launch sometime in Q1 2024.

It’s unclear from the report whether it’s referring to Q1 of the calendar year or the fiscal year, but we can probably assume it’s the latter, considering the fact that Nintendo has ruled out any new hardware launches for the current fiscal year (which ends on March 31, 2024).

At the outset of 2023, reports claimed that Nintendo had begun negotiations with suppliers for the production of its next console, while shortly afterward, Sharp CEO Robert Wu said that the company was making LCD screens for a new upcoming gaming console.

Reports have claimed that work on the Switch successor is progressing well behind-the-scenes, but that it won’t be out until spring 2024 “at the earliest”. Recently, reports claimed that a Spanish studio had received a devkit for the next Nintendo console.
