PlayStation’s attempts to expand its presence beyond the gaming space have been far-reaching in recent years, and while the steps being taken have been tangible and clear to see when it comes to things like PC releases, live service games, and TV and film adaptations, where PlayStation’s mobile gaming efforts are concerned, we’re yet to see the company take similar steps.

One major step forward came when Sony announced that it had hired former Apple man Nicola Sebastiani to head up their PlayStation Mobile division, though it seems there’s been a setback there as well. As reported by MobileGamer.biz, Sebastiani has left the company, and is no longer leading the mobile division. As per the report, he has left the company to “pursue a new, undisclosed opportunity”.

Back in early 2021, Sony said that it was looking to bring “PlayStation’s most popular franchises” to mobile devices, with the company intending to to expand its audience to “millions of gamers” beyond the confines of consoles.

Last year, as part of its continuing mobile efforts, Sony acquired Savage Game Studios. The mobile team is working on “a new unannounced AAA mobile live service action game.”
