Immortals of Aveum Will be 20-25 Hours Long

Immortals of Aveum

Immortals of Aveum received its full reveal trailer earlier today, and it has made a strong first impression. Developer Ascendant Studios is promising a big, bombastic single player experience with its cinematic fantasy first person shooter, and though there’s still some time left until the game is out, it’s already generating quite a bit of excitement.

And when it does launch, it looks like it’s going to be quite a meaty experience. Speaking in an interview published on the Epic Games website, game director and Ascendant Studios CEO Bret Robbins revealed that Immortals of Aveum will be 20-25 hours long at the very least, while that can also be extended with plenty of exploration and optional content on offer.

“I started with a loose idea around a magic shooter, of course, while I was working on Call of Duty but very quickly the game evolved into something pretty different,” Robbins said. “We are not fantasy Call of Duty. We are our own game. We have a lot of world exploration, a lot of puzzles, puzzle mechanics, and a lot of additional content. It’s a huge game. If you were just trying to play it straight through, it’s well over 20 to 25 hours, and if you want to really explore and do a lot, it gets quite a bit longer than that.”

Robbins also briefly talked about the the way the game and its world are structured. Players will be moving from area to area, which, as mentioned previously, will offer plenty of room for exploration, including “optional paths and hidden content”. Meanwhile, interestingly enough, there will also be some Metroidvania elements involved, with players being able to unlock previously inaccessible areas using newly gained abilities.

“Jack gains new abilities throughout the course of the game, which allows him to unlock new areas,” Robbins said. “There are lots of optional paths and hidden content for him to find. As you gain new abilities, you can return to previous areas and use those abilities to unlock new areas as well. And there are several different types of puzzles throughout the game.”

Immortals of Aveum launches on July 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will retail at $70.
