Golden Cicada Shells are yet another collectible in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. They don’t offer any advantages per se, however, returning all of them to the NPC at the top of the tallest tower in Mt. Tianzhushan Hidden Village gives you the Ascension achievement. He also drops the tablet needed for the Well-read achievement. They look like gold glittering loot, and this guide contains the locations of all 21 of them.
All Golden Cicada Shell Locations in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
You can find the Cicadas during the following missions:
Two Chivalrous Heroes
- Continue ascending the cliffs after defeating Zhuyan.
- Once you come across a building enter it.
- Turn right immediately after exiting the building and you’ll find a platform.
- Get on the platform and make your way to the rooftop.
- Keep going towards the split and turn left as soon as you get the chance to find the Golden Cicada Shell.
The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven
- Head towards the shortcut ladder.
- The Cicada is located atop the rooftop within the village.
The Valley of Crying Wraiths
- After you’re done with the Battle Flag close to the Changgui, keep heading up the cliff.
- There’s a Warlock enemy at the top.
- Cross the first bridge and drop through the hole inside the second the bridge.
Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch #1
- Get to the lit part of the bridge.
- Descend downstairs through the stairs.
- Enter the prison cell after defeating the Huoshus and you’ll find the Golden Cicada Shell in the corner.
Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch #2
- Head to the courtyard containing the ponds.
- The Golden Cidada is located on a rooftop above the Battle Flag.
In Search of the Immortal Wizard
- Enter the red corruption cave.
- Keep moving through the first branch and you’ll spot the Golden Cicada Shell eventually.
Centuries of Glory Burned Away #1
- Start at the second Battle Flag.
- Face left and move towards the center of the street (there’ll be an archer and soldier guarding the street).
- After you spot the soldier, take a left and you’ll see the Golden Cicada Shell past the fire.
Centuries of Glory Burned Away #2
- Drop down the hole in the wall.
- Interact with the Marking Flag on the small platform in the water.
- Now face towards the end of the canal and drop down to the left.
- You should come across a small alcove with the Golden Cicada Shell hidden inside of it.
The Battle of Hulaoguan Pass
- Starting at the Battle Flag take a right via the side path.
- You’ll reach the battlefield where a Changgui demon should be perching on your left.
- Descend to the chasm below and you’ll find the Golden Cicada Shell at the end.
Tyrant’s Final Banquet #1
- Get to the second fort section after the invasion.
- The Golden Cicada Shell is located atop the small rooftop. Use the normal rooftop to reach the smaller one.
Tyrant’s Final banquet #2
- Head to an area guarded by a Changgui after defeating the Fengxi and raising the Battle Flag.
- The Golden Cicada Shell is located at the top of the roof.
Darkness Over the Hanshui River
- Go right at the beginning of the mission and defeat the Shuigui.
- Head to the wooden shipwreck and drop down below.
- You should land on a platform containing the Golden Cicada Shell.
War’s Flames Blaze Fiercely #1
- Release the Battle Flag’s corruption that’s being controlled by a spearman.
- Keep following the path and take a right when you come across the split.
- Take another right and you’ll notice a chest being protected by a spear-wielding soldier.
- Defeat him and open the chest for the collectible.
War’s Flames Blaze Fiercely #2
- Reach the room within the sewers containing the two terracotta soldiers.
- They’ll be on top of a platform guarding a chest containing the Golden Cicada Shell.
Lu Bu, Mightiest Among Men
- Get to the wall overlooking the wooden fort (towards the end of the mission).
- Descend and move towards the staircase.
- Head up the stairs and look to your left.
- The Shell is located behind a wooden structure.
The Way of the Warrior
- Start at Battle Flag 1 and keep going until you come across a broken branch.
- Drop down and navigate through the muddy stream until you see a Zhupolong.
- Defeat it and you’ll find the shell lying by the tree.
Decisive Battle of Guandu #1
- Get to the statues.
- Go behind the second statue on the right and you’ll reach a small village containing the shell.
Decisive Battle of Guandu #2
- Defeat the boss and raise the Battle Flag.
- Drop down behind the Shitieshou and you’ll spot the Golden Cicada Shell.
Behold the Glaive of Righteousness #1
- Get to the foggy area.
- Keep progressing through the main path until you come across the Changgui.
- Defeat it and climb the ladder behind it.
- Cross the bridge and at the end, keep going right until you come across a Suanyu.
- There’s a small tower near where Suanyu is roaming.
- Climb the tower and you can find the Golden Cicada Shell on a branch.
Behold the Glaive of Righteousness #2
- Get to the underground area and keep heading forward until you come across two terracotta soldiers wielding massive swords and guarding the door.
- Ignore them and climb the ledges.
- Once you reach the top, there’ll be a hole in the ground with a ladder leading downward.
- Activate the shortcut ladder in this area.
- Go back upwards and defeat the Houshu close to the red crystal. The Cicada Shell is located behind the shell.
Mt. Tianzhushan Hidden Village
- The last Golden Cicada Shell is located at the base of the village’s tallest tower.
