The Nintendo Switch is in the seventh year of its life, and leaks have claimed that Nintendo is planning to launch its next-gen successor in the second half of 2024, but for now, the Switch is continuing impressive momentum where its sales are concerned.

During its quarterly earnings briefing, Nintendo recently announced that as of June 30, 2023, the Switch has sold 129.53 million units worldwide, which is up from 125.62 million units as of the end of the preceding quarter.

During the first quarter of FY 23/24 (April-June), Nintendo sold 3.91 million units of the Switch, which is up 13.9% from what it managed in Q1 of the previous fiscal year. Though sales for the base Switch model and Switch Lite were down (by 51.3% and 26.7% respectively), the Switch OLED model saw an 83.6% year-on-year increase in sales.

A total of 52.2 million software units were also sold on the Switch during the quarter, which is a 26.1% year-on-year increase. That can largely be attributed to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which has now sold over 18.5 million units.

Nintendo has also revealed updated sales figures for the top ten best-selling first party titles on the Switch, where Tears of the Kingdom has instantly shot up to No. 9.
