At Sony’s PlayStation Showcase in May this year, Bungie announced Marathon, a PvPvE extraction shooter revival of the old franchise, and though it naturally turned quite a few heads with the game’s announcement trailer, it also made it pretty clear that the project is still in the early stages of development. The developer has, of course, continued to staff up to expand the team working on the game, and in the process, recently added another key role.
Andrew Witts, who was formerly the the Lead Multiplayer Designer on Halo Infinite before he left 343 Industries in March last year, recently unveieled on Twitter that has has joined Bungie and will serve as the Gameplay Design Director on Marathon.
“Everyone has been so welcoming and kind,” Witts wrote. “I am thrilled to work with this brilliant and incredibly talented team.”
Prior to Halo Infinite, Witts also worked at Boss Key Productions as senior game designer on LawBreakers, before which he was a game designer on Rainbow Six Siege at Ubisoft Montreal.
Marathon is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
