Survival horror games are bigger than ever right now, and from newcomers to revivals of classic franchises, the level of widespread critical and commercial success the genre is enjoying continues to look more impressive by the day. Last year, THQ Nordic confirmed that it, too, would be attempting to grab a piece of that pie with the announcement of an Alone in the Dark reboot, and though details on the game have been scant since then, that will be changing very soon.
THQ Nordic has announced an Alone in the Dark Spotlight. Set for May 25 at 5 PM PT, the livestream will see members of the development team at Pieces Interactive providing “answers to some of the most pressing questions surrounding the game.” Presumably, gameplay footage will be shown off.
Serving as a reimagination of the original Alone in the Dark trilogy, the upcoming reboot is being directed by written and directed by Mikael Hedberg of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA fame. With its third person over-the-shoulder perspective and its significant visual leap, it seems to be taking plenty of cues from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake.
THQ Nordic also has a Digital Showcase set for August 11, where the publisher has confirmed it will be showing off more of Alone in the Dark, along with other upcoming titles.
Alone in the Dark is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It doesn’t yet have a release date.
