That Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake would be a massive critical and commercial success was hardly ever in doubt, given the original game’s legacy and Capcom’s recent track record with the series, and that’s been proven thoroughly true over the last few days and weeks. Recently, we reported that the survival horror remake had enjoyed the series’ biggest ever launch on Steam to date, but it seems like it’s kept that momentum going past that as well.

As per SteamDB, on launch day, which was March 24, Resident Evil 4’s remake saw a peak concurrent user count of 140,240 players on Steam. Meanwhile, the next day, March 25, it went on to enjoy an even more impressive peak, topping at 168,191 players on Steam. That, of course, is also the highest Steam concurrent user count peak any Resident Evil game has ever enjoyed to date.

In our review of the remake, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “Resident Evil 4 perfectly captures the tone and strengths of the original game, while also managing to improve upon it in truly meaningful ways. In doing so, it once again becomes a standard-bearer for the survival horror genre, while also setting a new bar for Capcom as a developer, for video game remakes, and for the Resident Evil franchise as a whole.” Read the full review through here.

Resident Evil 4’s remake is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC. It will be getting The Mercenaries as free DLC on April 7, while free PlayStation VR2-exclusive DLC is also in the works. Meanwhile, reports claim that Ada’s Separate Ways campaign is also in development as paid DLC.
