Worldwide supply and stock shortages have constrained PS5 sales heavily for over two years, but those shortages have started letting up. Sony recently confirmed that the console should now be much easier to find at retail, and that, as you may have imagined, is being reflected in its sales.

As per data provided by the Gfk (via GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring on Twitter), the PS5 enjoyed a significant sales boos in the UK last month, thanks to a much improved stock situation. In fact, PS5 sales in the UK for the month of January were up 98% from January 2022. With console stock levels rising, PS5 games seem to have enjoyed an increase in sales as well, with God of War Ragnarok jumping up to second place in the physical software charts.

Sony recently confirmed that the PS5 has shipped 32.1 million units worldwide. The company it shipped 7.1 million units of the console in the October-December period – which is nearly twice as much as what it managed in the same period in 2022 – and expects to have shipped another 6.2 million units between January and March.
